The Trinity

Have you ever tried imagining how The Trinity works? Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three in one. How can that be? I’ve heard many analogies and ways to think about The Trinity before and I think many of these analogies are great ways to view it. You could say it’s a bit like a phone—one device with many features packed in—or that it’s like water, ice, and gas. Another analogy says that the Trinity is like a pizza with its many toppings and flavors. However, I recently heard: We as humans are almost a trinity in ourselves because we were made in God’s image. (This is in my own words since I can’t recall the exact quote. But I can say that I heard it from a Jack Hibbs podcast) It is the best analogy I’ve ever heard and it makes a lot of sense to me.

I am not saying we are holy/to-be-praised beings like the Trinity, but our body, mind, and soul are great examples of how The Holy Trinity works. Our physical body represents Jesus’s physical body, our problem-solving mind represents The Holy Spirit and how He works, and finally, our personality-filled soul represents The Father in his personality-filled ways. All that makes up your body, mind, and soul. Just like you have three parts of your being in one, The Trinity is the same way. I think this is a really cool example of how we are made in God’s image and by His Holy hand.

I hope this made sense and really helped you to think about The Trinity in a new way!

God made us in His image. Genesis 1:27 says, “…in the image of God He created them…”
