Disclaimer: I got most of my facts from The Holy Bible. I have added Bible references in the places where I have specific facts. Everything else I completely imagined. To be honest, I’m sure the New Earth is actually going to be way more interesting, awesome and full of God’s majesty than I show here. So enjoy, but do so with an open mind.
Hooves clomped and I bounced along to the rhythm of the spotted white and brown horse beneath me. Aiyden and Joy were on either side of me. We rode our horses straight into the Redwood forest, staring in awe at the height of the red trees which towered above us.
“I wonder where the tallest one is.” Said Aiyden.
“I know these woods like the back of my hand. Follow me.” Joy trotted her horse ahead of us. Aiyden and I exchanged smiles and followed. As we rode up to the tree, quarter the height of a small mountain and as thick as 15 people in a circle holding hands, all my heart wanted to shout was “Holy, holy holy!” Only a big God like ours could make something so huge and amazing.
Squirrels scampered up and down the tree. Birds flew to and from it. At this point, Aiyden, Joy and I had gotten off our horses and were each circling the tree, jaws open, and overcome with awe.
Finally, Joy broke the silence, “I see it often but my mind still can’t get over the vastness and detail in this world.” Then she patted the tree “I named her Briella”
“God is my strength” I muttered under my breath, recognizing the meaning. The name almost brought tears to my eyes as I thought of all God had gotten us through in the Old Earth. All we had been through. The sickness, hurt, pain, anger, suffering, frustration. Every situation that caused us stress and anxiety. God got us through. He kept His promise. He gave us strength. All that pain was worth it for this. These moments in this place. Peace, not fear, filled me every moment. I knew I was safe in His arms on this earth. The strength of Briella represented the strength we had to have in the past days of our old life. All that strength we thought we got on our own. But God gave it to us. Just like He gave this tree strength to stand tall and endure.
As if we all just read each other’s thoughts, we all exclaimed, “Woahhh”
A second after that, Aiyden grabbed a low tree branch and heaved himself onto it. He kept going up and up. Joy and I followed behind. I focused on each step, each grab, and each grip of every branch. I knew I’d be safe in the arms of God, but each careful step represented the mindfulness I had of each new experience I would have on this New Earth. I would no longer go into things in a careless or lazy way like I had done in my old life. Now that I was made new, I’d follow where God led all the time and I’d enter each experience with patience and carefulness so that I could learn the most about every new thing. (To be continued…)
