Sorry for the late post again. I’ve been so busy. I’ll make a good long post about everything after the meditation challenge!
Ok. On Monday we went over verses 1 and 2 of Romans 5:1-5. Today we are meditating on verses 3 and 4 which say, “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,”
“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings.” We rejoice in our sufferings? Why would we rejoice because of suffering? The next part tells us,
“Knowing that suffering produces endurance.”. The more we suffer, the stronger we get so that we can last longer the next time we have to suffer.
”and endurance produces character.” By enduring, we gain experience(according to the KJV version.).
“And character produces hope”. Experience helps us have hope. Why? I’ve got two answers.
First is this, there are two kinds of hope.
- Hope as in “I’m hoping you get the job!”. Hope of the unknown.
- Hope as in knowledge that God will do what is best no matter what.
I’m talking about the 2nd kind of hope.
But here’s my other answer,
This is similar to my 2nd type of hope. As we gain experience, we begin to see what God does which gives us more knowledge that we know that even though we don’t know the future, God will do what is right and we can trust that.
Sorry if that was a bit confusing. Don’t be afraid to ask questions if that made absolutely no sense to you 😉
Have a wonderful night!
